Manuel Castells and mobile society

May 11, 2006 – 3:29 pm

This is definitely going to be on my reading list for the coming months. Thanks to Mopocket for bringing news of it to that part of the blogosphere preoccupied with mobile things. Entitled Mobile Communication and Society : A Global Perspective, the book is co-authored by Manuel Castells (renowned author of The Rise of the Network Society, part one of his famed trilogy that gave global informational capitalism a systematic analysis, and which got cited, and cited, and cited… even by people who never read the thing…)

This is sure to become essential reading for communications and media students everywhere. Due out in November 2006 (but guess who’s fishing for a review copy?) from MIT Press.

  2. If you want to read Castells in November, how about Gow and Smith in July?
